A Rotterdam foundation that sees people, connects and values them.

Support a Bit is a young Rotterdam foundation, established on 29 April 2026. We work for people in vulnerable positions or those at risk of being overlooked — newcomers, older people on their own, young people without a safety net, informal carers who themselves need a moment to breathe. We believe that a little attention, a little time and a little help often make the difference between getting stuck and being able to move on.

Our approach is deliberately small in scale. We work in the neighbourhood, with short lines, with people who know each other by name. No waiting lists or thick case files, but an hour on the sofa, a walk, a phone call at the right moment. We are not a replacement for professional care or social work — we fill the space in between.

Three core values

Our work rests on three words that carry everything we do.

Seeing — truly seeing what is there, without judgement. That starts with listening and asking. We see the person behind the file, behind the language barrier, behind the age.

Connecting — bringing people together where they can find each other. Between generations, between cultures, between neighbours who have never even said hello. Connecting is the work of a lifetime, and it starts today.

Valuing — letting someone know that they matter. Not only with words, but with deeds, time and attention. Everyone deserves to be valued for who they are.

Why Rotterdam

Rotterdam is our city. It is a city of people from every corner of the world, of workers and strivers, of neighbourhoods each with their own history. It is also a city where loneliness, language gaps and social exclusion are stubborn. We want to be there for the Rotterdammers who need just a little extra support — in Feijenoord, Delfshaven, Charlois, IJsselmonde and wherever people can use our work.
